Colours (The Story)
The world is full of different and unique colours, from black to white , colours are getting more diverce each day as new colour combinations appear all the time. That is different situation for a colourblind person as they can only see certain colours and are no permitted to see any other colours but that small array of colours. I have a friend which name i shall not reveal for safety reasons , which is colour blind , he told me that the hardest part of living as a colourblind person is the safety of themselves and the people they care about , while they can drive but the colours in the traffic light are different in the eyes of him. Although some may say the sequence is the same but i think in other countries they are different . But the has made it work in his favour . He said that being colour blind isn't as bad as you think because you will and must grow into it , he doesn't complain about his disability and he actually never brought it up in a conversation with him.
He always thought that his disability is a result of God himself , and since he is such a religious person i leave to him to decide how it came about. But I always admire how the pushed through his struggles as a colourblind person even as a kid how would he even differentiate between green and red . He is what's called deuteranopia which means he can't see red, brown and more. When he first found out that he was colour blind is when he was a child , he was told to name some colours while he was in kindergarten , some students thought he was stupid and dumb but little that they know he had a disability that changed his life forever , at first he struggled in his early years as he was constantly bullied and were called hurtful names like dillweed , colour stupid , and many more hurtful names to come. He felt like he was a mistake to be born, the discrimination that he faced was more that he could bare , and the attempted suicide was foiled by the one and only person that he thought was the only person which loved him, his mother. She talked to him about how valuable his life is.
His mother told him that he should live his life like he is unique and very special like a limited edition person. His mother was a huge influence and made him the person he is today. Many of his friends admire his bravery and willpower to overcome the discrimination and segregation that he faced in his earlier life . But he took his knowledge about him being special the wrong way , he started to forget who he really was and started stating that he was better than everyone else because he can only see certain colours and said he was more superior than others. We then came into his life and helped him change to become a better person in general. Furthermore, he was also treated differently because of hi skin tone, he was also called racist names which i cannot name, teachers would pair him with quote and quote 'his kind of people' , which i find extremely offensive.
Our society has changed for the worse , just because my friend is colour blind and black , doesn't mean that you can just exclude him from any activities that was held at certain places. He got bullied because of his skin tone , most my school is populated with white people and they are the major reason that he got bullied , just because he is different , just because of hi disability that he got the punishment that he did not deserve . Colour can change the view of many narrow-minded people in this cruel, unforgiving world. Colours can change people , they can help and hurt certain people in this world and it is very hard to live in such a world that just a simple change of colour can change the perspective of people . We should learn to appreciate people for who they are and not what they look like , that is what my friend taught me .
